Consultation on Fairfield Housing Allocation's Policy

Fairfield Housing is considering becoming a member of the Common Housing Register in Perth & Kinross which is administered by Perth & Kinross Council and adopting the Common Allocations Policy.

Fairfield Housing currently operates its own waiting lists and anyone wishing to be housed by Fairfield must apply directly to us.  The other main housing providers in Perth & Kinross (Perth & Kinross Council, Caledonia Housing and Hillcrest Housing) are all members of the common housing register.  This means they allocate from one waiting list and there is only one application form to complete.

With the introduction of the Housing Scotland Act 2014 there are a number of requirements which Fairfield must introduce to our allocations policy and these can be viewed on our website.  These changes require Fairfield to review its existing allocation policy and due to our relatively small turnover in properties and our existing agreement to offer 50% of our void properties to PKC we started to consider the benefits of becoming a partner of the Common Housing register and adopting their common allocations policy.  Should we become a partner of the common housing register and adopt the allocations policy, there will changes to how we allocate our properties.

We want to hear your views on these proposals and would be grateful if you could complete our feedback form. You can return the form in the following ways:

  • Hand it into our office
  • Post it to us at 5 Fairfield Avenue, Fairfield, Perth, PH1 2TF
  • Email it to reception@fairfield-ha.org.uk
  • Phone our office on 01738 630738 and speak with Paul or Helen from the Housing team

The deadline for responses is 4pm on Friday 26th April 2019.

The feedback will be used to report to our Committee of Management who can then make an informed decision on the best course of action to take for Fairfield and our applicants.

Fairfield becoming a member of the Common Housing Register and adopting the Common Allocations policy is the preferred option to allow us to be fully compliant with the Housing Scotland Act 2014, and also to meet the needs of existing tenants and those who have applied for housing with Fairfield.

Your views will be reported back to the Management Committee on 30 April 2019 when they will make the final decision on whether we will become a member of the Common Housing register, and adopt the Common Allocations policy.
