Scottish Housing Regulator

On the 27th November 2018 the Scottish Housing Regulator decided to use its statutory powers at Fairfield Housing Co-operative to protect the interests of tenants following continued engagement with our Management Committee. The Regulator took this action after it identified serious risks in the Co-operative’s governance and management. This followed an independent investigation commissioned by us which highlighted a number of areas of potential serious misconduct and systemic failures of governance indicating that we have not been complying with Regulatory Standards.

We confirm that we are co-operating fully with these changes and we will be working positively with the Regulator to address the issues identified so we can continue to protect the best interests of our tenants.  We would like to reassure you that the day-to-day provision of housing services by our experienced staff team will continue as normal and our focus will remain firmly on serving our tenants and the wider community.

To support us with the work ahead, the Regulator has appointed a Statutory Manager to oversee all Co-operative activity and seven appointees will be  placed onto the Management Committee. The Statutory Manager and appointees will be directly accountable to the Regulator. Their first priority will be to work with the Management Committee and staff team to address the serious and urgent risks to our governance and to tackle the issues identified in the investigation.

A copy of the Regulation Plan can be obtained from the Co-operative’s office, from our website at www.fairfieldhousing.co.uk  or from the Regulators website at www.scottishhousingregulator.gov.uk
